Wood Pellet Machine – Sawdust Pellet Press | Biomass Pellet Maker
Product Overview
The Wood Pellet Machine (also known as Sawdust Pellet Press or Biomass Pellet Maker) is a high-efficiency molding equipment that compresses agricultural and forestry biomass wastes—such as wood chips, sawdust, straw, rice husks, and bark—into high-density cylindrical pellets through physical extrusion. The densification process increases the material's specific gravity from 0.6-0.8 to over 1.1, reducing volume to approximately 1/30 of the raw material while greatly improving combustion performance.
This machine operates on the principle of lignin softening: when the temperature reaches 70-110°C during the pressing process, lignin—a natural inherent binder in biomass—softens and gains adhesive strength. Under pressure, it binds with cellulose and hemicellulose to form solid pellets without the need for any added binders or additives.
Applications
Biomass pellets produced by this machine serve as a clean, renewable energy source with wide-ranging applications:
-
Civil Heating & Household Energy – Fuel for pellet stoves and furnaces in homes, schools, hospitals, and commercial buildings
-
Industrial Boilers – Replaces coal in industrial boiler systems, reducing atmospheric emissions and energy costs
-
Power Generation – Fuel for thermal power plants to supplement electricity supply
-
Animal Bedding – Softwood pellets serve as premium absorbent bedding material
Raw Material Suitability: Wood chips, sawdust, shavings, branches, bark, straw, rice husks, peanut shells, cotton stalks, coconut shells, bagasse, coffee husks, mushroom waste, and other biomass residues with moisture content of 10-20%.
Key Features
-
High-Efficiency Transmission – Uses high-precision involute cylindrical helical gear drive with transmission efficiency exceeding 98%, outperforming traditional belt-driven systems by 20-25%.
-
Robust & Durable Construction – Main components use high-alloy wear-resistant materials; double-sided grinding tools (ring die) can be used on both sides to reduce replacement costs and extend service life.
-
Automatic Lubrication System – Equipped with an automatic circulating oil pump system, eliminating manual greasing and ensuring maintenance-free operation.
-
Stable & Quiet Operation – Gear teeth undergo carburizing heat treatment (carburized layer depth 2-4mm) with silent fine-grinding finishing, keeping noise levels below 72 decibels.
-
Wide Processing Adaptability – Customizable pellet diameter (6-12mm) and length options to meet diverse production requirements.
-
Self-Adjusting Roller Function – Uses bidirectional thrust bearing principle for automatic pressure angle adjustment, preventing material blockage and ensuring stable molding.
-
Forced Feeding Device – Equipped with a forced feeding mechanism to ensure consistent material flow into the pelleting chamber, preventing starvation and improving overall efficiency .
Working Principle
The crushed and dried biomass material is fed into the pelleting chamber, where the rotating press roller forces the material through the die holes under high pressure. As the material passes through the die holes, it is compressed into cylindrical pellets. A rotating cutter then cuts the extruded material to the desired length. The entire process requires no additives—the material's natural lignin acts as a binder under heat and pressure.

Production Process
The complete wood pellet production line consists of: Raw Material Collection → Crushing → Drying (to 15-20% moisture) → Pelletizing → Cooling (approx. 40 minutes) → Packaging.
FAQ
Q1: What moisture content is required for the raw materials?
A: Optimal moisture content is 10-20%. Material that is too wet affects pellet density and formation, while overly dry material reduces binding quality.
Q2: What is the final pellet size?
A: Standard pellet diameter ranges from 6-12mm, with length adjustable from 2-6cm. Custom sizes available upon request.
Q3: Do I need to add any binder to the raw materials?
A: No. Biomass naturally contains lignin, which softens at 70-110°C and acts as a built-in binder during the pressing process, eliminating the need for additives.
Q4: What raw materials can be processed?
A: Wood chips, sawdust, shavings, bark, straw, rice husks, peanut shells, cotton stalks, coconut shells, bagasse, coffee husks, mushroom waste, and many other biomass residues.
Q5: What is the density of finished pellets?
A: Finished pellet density is ≥1.1 t/m³, significantly higher than the raw material density of 0.6-0.8 t/m³.
Q6: Can I test the machine before purchasing?
A: Yes. We offer free trial runs before the machine leaves our factory, allowing you to verify processing results in advance.
Q7: What after-sales support do you provide?
A: We offer on-site installation guidance, fast spare parts supply (within 5 days for emergencies), and 24-hour technical support with responsive troubleshooting.
